Sorel Boots
I photographed a small still-life series using my boots, a cap, and several personal accessories (umbrella, ring, gold bracelet, and a brown scarf) all presented in a monochromatic brown palette. After shooting product-style images of the cap and boots, I explored scale and relationship by photographing myself small next to the products, turning them into almost-heroic objects. The experiment combined product photography, intimate self-portraiture, and handmade watercolor imagery to create a narrative that highlights the boots as the central character in a quiet domestic scene.

Why could this work not have existed yesterday?
This project emerged from a sequence of decisions and subtle discoveries made on the day of the shoot. The exact composition, the choice to use a monochrome brown palette, and the spontaneous idea to scale my own figure against the objects were all developed in the moment. The collaboration with Nicole and the materials I used are unique to this moment, so the visual relationships they produce could not have been realised before today.
I also discovered how much texture and warmth the
monochrome brown palette added to the mood.
